Dentistry and Dental Medicine

Dr. Leora Walter is well-regarded prosthodontist, a dental specialist trained in advance restorative and implant dentistry. She received her prosthodontics degree from New York Hospital Queens and completed her general practice residency at Long Island College Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center. After completing her post-graduate specialty training in comprehensive advanced restorative dentistry, Dr. Walter went on to complete a 2-year surgical fellowship in Dental Implantology at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Walter is currently Course Director in prosthodontics and Clinical Attending at the Woodhull Medical Center where she uses her expertise to train, mentor, and teach other dentists.

Dr. Sinkford was appointed associate dean at Howard College of Dentistry in 1967. In 1975, she broke the gender barrier when she was appointed dean of Howard University College of Dentistry, serving from 1975-1991. An alumna of Howard University, Dr. Sinkford graduated first in the dental class at Howard University in 1958. She currently serves as dean emerita of the College of Dentistry.

Dr Philine H Metelmann obtained her Dentistry degree from Greifswald University in Germany. She subsequently pursued a Ph.D. in Comprehensive Cancer Prevention, earning a nomination for the 2015 Felix Burda Award. In 2012, she was granted support by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) to further her research and education as a visiting student at the University of Minnesota in the USA. Following a period of work in a private practice, she is presently enrolled in an Orthodontic Residency program while concurrently conducting various research projects.
